Stag's Leap Winemaker's Dinner
Jake’s Grill, Portland

The Lewis & Clark Room at Jake's Grill hums with a quiet kind of history — warm woodwork, candlelight, and a mural that holds the whole wall. We arrived early, set sixteen bud vases and mercury glass votives along the U-shaped table, and watched the room come to life.

The palette followed the evening's story — chocolate and fawn drawn from the Stag's Leap label, deep Bordeaux tones answering the wines, soft creams lifting it all into something luminous. An arrangement greeted guests at the welcome table, a statement piece that anchored the room, and a birch cone with blooms waited at each place to go home with the guests.

When the night was underway, I was asked to stand and share with the room about our business. Thirty-three guests. Amazing food. Extraordinary wine. And florals that felt, for one evening, like they had always belonged there.
