Ox Restaurant, Portland

We let the restaurant lead. The herringbone-laid terracotta tile that faces the bar, the warm amber glow of the back bar liquor bottles, the marbled countertop, the hanging plants with all their natural texture — Ox already knows how to set a scene. Our job was simply to deepen it.

Eremurus in yellow, Café au Lait dahlias, ranunculus, tulips — a lush, overflowing palette that spoke to the warmth already living in that space. The Bower anchored the end of the bar. A Whisper welcomed guests at check-in. And a series of Sprigs — our sets of three bud vases — were scattered across the tables, artfully placed to leave room for the communal plates Ox is known for, and ready to go home with guests at the end of the evening.

The afternoon sun came through the skylight just so. The jasmine was extraordinary. And Ox, as always, knew exactly how they liked it.
